All Funds taken in during this event will go to help one of the newest disc golfers in our area get back on his feet; 9 month old Aiden Marley Hughes. Please come out and help us help the Hughes Family. The Hughes family has played a big part in improving disc golf in this area, they helped to found the NGDGC and contributed a lot of blood sweet and tears to improving the course at Oregon Park and have worked diligently in the creation of the new course at White Oak Park in Paulding Co. There will also be another Tournament to support them at the White Oak Park course soon. More details to come.
If you cannot come out and play or if you do not want to play or don’t play disc golf at all please go ahead and donate a few bucks with the link below and we will make sure Aiden gets it.
Or you can deposit it directly into Aiden’s account @

UPDATE TO TOURNAMENT FORMAT 5-15-09
Due to a number of requests we are changing the format for the Aiden Marley Hughes Charity Tournament this Saturday. Lots of people don’t want to play the worst shot doubles the second round and some can’t play in the morning and some can’t play in the afternoon, so…. (Both rounds will be played best shot doubles) And…..
Advanced and Pro will still draw from the Red chips and everyone else from the white, so we will still pair up partners advanced with beginner teams, but you will change partners for each round.
Players will team up for the first round of regular best shot doubles, and the score your team gets will be “your” score for the first round, then you will draw again for a partner for the second round and the score your team gets will be “your” score for the second round. Whoever gets the lowest total score for both rounds combined Wins.
This way we can have anyone play first or second round only… however they will not be included in the final total score and the prizes. So that those who want to contribute and play a little golf can come and play one or the other round and not mess up the 2 round competition.
Hope to see you all there
more update
Ok so this is the sort of thing that happens when you try to throw something together last minute…. Both of the pavilions have already been reserved at Oregon Park for Saturday, which means we will have to set up shop somewhere else in the park. It also means there will be a lot more foot traffic around the park, so play will be a little annoying but we are still going to do it. Just come prepared for a little inconvenience. But it will be nothing like the inconvenience that Jason and Melanie are having right now, so go ahead and come out and support them please… thanks see you all tomorrow.
Here is the plan we are all going to park on the other side of the road by T-pad #18 and we will have a tent set up there for sign in and all that. We will also have the grill set up over there so everyone park there and we will do lunch tailgate style, so bring your chairs ect. So the whole parking area by T-pad 18 will be disc golf central for tomorrow. This will also keep the Baseball parking off our T-pad

WE NEED YOUR HELP
we are going to post a usage sign up sheet at Oregon Park. We ask that you sign your name on this sheet each and every time you use the course. We are trying to show to the Parks Dept. that we need to expand the course. Oregon Park is always crowded and needs to be further developed. We need ammunition when we take our proposals to the county. So please sign up every time you use the course.
There will be a clipboard on the marquee at Hole (1) starting on 01-17-09
(it will only take a second so do it)
Please, and thank you
Update 02/28/09: the sign in sheet has been going really good. We have shown many pages to Cobb County Parks and they were surprised at just how played Oregon Park is. There was a Saturday last month that had over 140 people play in one day. Thanks to all that are signing the sheet keep it up.
<<<<HOT NEWS>>>>
The sign in sheet and other efforts have paid off… the county let us put 7 more baskets in at Oregon Park… with 2 more on the way. 18 holes at O.P. some said it would never happen. Thanks so much to all who put forth the effort and contributed there time sweat and money to the effort….. WhooooWaaaa
Oregon Park 18 holes course map

So please don’t let the FOP be a flop come out and support the 2nd annual FOP for the O.P. see sign up and flyer above

IS OVER
We had a great time and everything went pretty smooth. We were a little short on the turn out though… people probably afraid of the rain… and as it turned there was almost no rain and most of us were in T-shirts the second round. For those that supported us this year much thanks and we hope to see you again next year.
We got a lot of good comments about the course layout. Thanks to Wayne and Mike and Mark, and all those that helped set it up and take it down.
We still have some merchandise left if you want to buy you can pick something up this Saturday before or after the “first Saturday tournament” (at 12:00) cash or check.
We Raised $800.00 in cash for the kids, but we also have over $200. In stuff left that we would like to add to the cash amount in the next week. This is only half as much as we raised last year. I hope we can do better in 2010
Thanks again to all those who helped make this event a success
